We are proud to announce a historic milestone for the Australia Burundi Scholarship Fund: the graduation of our first five scholars. These five individuals from DELFT Highscool in Rumonge have officially completed the circle of support that began with their scholarships, moving from ABSF Scholars to becoming our very first ABSF Alumni.
Our inaugural alumni have earned their A2 diplomas, a significant professional qualification in the Burundian education system. Their journey at DELFT (Diplôme de Formation et de Technologie) has equipped them with the practical, modern skills in technology and industry needed to enter the workforce or pursue further specialized training.
This achievement is the result of years of hard work, culminating in several key milestones:
August 2025: The students sat for their final national exams to qualify for their A2 diplomas.
January 2026: Following the release of their results, they celebrated their transition to alumni status at an official graduation ceremony.
Seeing our first scholars become alumni confirms that the structured support provided by the ABSF is yielding tangible results. The A2 diploma is a valuable credential that empowers the youth of Rumonge to build sustainable futures and contribute to their local economy.
These five trailblazers have set a strong example for the 140+ students currently supported by the ABSF across our partner schools. Their success is a victory for their families, the DELFT school administration, and our dedicated community of donors who make this "full circle" journey possible.
To our first five alumni: Félicitations! We look forward to seeing the impact you will make as leaders in your community.
